Planned Monthly Curriculums
Each month I plan to cover a certain amount of material. The following is a projected timeline of when and what different units will be covered. Jan -Feb: Introduction to the short story, fiction, and nonfiction. Literary terms, grammar, writing, etc.
Common Core/State Standards:
Feb-Mar: Romeo and Juliet, elements of drama; weekly vocabulary units from Sadlier-Oxford, grammar exercises, writing, and daily practice which reflects reaching the goals in addition to the needs to progress in the course for the next four years.
Common Core/State Standards:
Mar-Apr: Poetry, Poetry Out Loud, short story, the novel (To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee), writing, grammar, and weekly vocabulary work.
Common Core/State Standards:
Apr-May Finish the novel and begin the epic tale The Odyssey with connections to Oh Brother, Where art Thou? Continued weekly grammar, writing, vocabulary..
Common Core/State Standards:
May: Exams are MAY 13th-17th. We will focus heavily on reviewing and preparing for the final exam while completing other readings of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and drama, as well as practicing our writing skills.
